One of our favorite things to do as a family together is get Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt! My family eats frozen treats year round and if you are familiar with Cleveland weather, you’re probably wondering why. But its just our thing and something we absolutely love! For movie nights, or an after dinner snack, we enjoy eating sundaes. Recently, instead of using ice cream we tried creating a Yogurt Sundae Bowl! Yogurt Sundae Bowls are an easy and fun snack that families can enjoy together! These bowls can be made inside a waffle bowl (as shown) or in a regular bowl! If you have ever been to a DIY Frozen Yogurt place, you know the joy of being able to create your own combination of flavors and toppings.
For these bowls we used a little bit of fruit, cereal, sprinkles, and chocolate chips! However, these bowls can be made with whatever toppings you like!
Yogurt Sundae Bowls
Yogurt Sundae Bowls
Ingredients
- Vanilla Yogurt
- Rainbow Sprinkles
- Mini Chocolate Chips
- Waffle Bowls
- Cheerios
- Strawberry Slices
Instructions
- Place the yogurt into the waffle bowls (Amount based on your personal preference)
- Sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles, chocolate chips, cheerios & strawberries
The great thing about this recipe is you don’t need measurements, and its solely based off your personal preference! Next time I will definitely leave the chocolate chips off of my children’s bowls because they’re pretty hit or miss with chocolate, whereas my husband and I are pro-chocolate at times! And I would also switch from using regular dairy yogurt to Oat milk Yogurt. We recently switched a lot of our dairy products to either vegan products or Oat milk and it helps our stomachs tremendously!
We also used Vanilla flavored yogurt, because it was easy, however, you can definitely switch up the flavors depending on what you love!
Yogurt Sundae Topping Ideas…
Fruit (Any Kind of Berries, Kiwi, Bananas, Pineapples, grapes, or even a variety of frozen fruit), or Cherries (a personal favorite of mine)
Chocolate Chips, White Chocolate Chips, Caramel Chips
Sprinkles
Cereal, Coconut, Nuts
Cookies (Oreos, Chocolate Chip Cookies), Marshmallows, Flavored Syrups, Candy or Cake Pieces
*I don’t recommend, adding all of these toppings-maybe a couple at a time so no one has a stomach ache from eating too many flavors together!
And really anything you can add to ice cream, you could add to your Yogurt Bowl! I like to think of the toppings that I get at the self-serve Yogurt places, and I use those toppings.
This recipe is PERFECT for creating a Yogurt Bar-having the toppings out and everyone can fix their own bowl with the combinations they love!
