Do you ever feel like you need a quick getaway? This is exactly what we needed and Pittsburgh did not disappoint! A couple of weeks ago my family and I spent 24-hours in Pittsburgh! The kids and I had Friday, October 8th off school and work, and Darrick took the day with us.
We arrived Thursday evening and were immediately able to check in at Homewood Suites in Downtown Pittsburgh. The hotel was super clean and very accommodating! We were pretty tired, and the Manager of the hotel gave us dinner recommendations.
Our room was a two-room suite and it was Ahhhhmazing! Homewood Suites-Downtown Pittsburgh is absolutely beautiful! I love that the suites have modern decor, full kitchens, and an amazing view!
We ordered dinner from Pizza Bosa! And when Darrick went to pick the order up from the lobby, he said it seemed as if the entire hotel ordered from the same place!
The next day we had a full day of fun planned!
We started our day with Breakfast in the Lobby! I love that even during pandemic times the hotel is still able to accommodate date guests with breakfast options. Everything was individually wrapped, and options for everyone from sausage sandwiches, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit.
The kids finished and quickly moved to the area to play some of the tabletop games in the lobby.
After breakfast and checkout, we packed the car and walked across the Parking Lot to Senator Heinz’s History Center! This place was AWESOME! Honestly, if we hadn’t had other places on our itinerary we could’ve stayed here for HOURS!!! There were floors packed with HISTORY!!!
From the History Center, we then went to the Carnegie Science Museum! This was fun for us all! Lots of hands-on activities!! We even stopped into the featured exhibit of Pompeii.
We had one more stop on our list, the National Aviary. We didn’t make it to this destination on our list because Emma wasn’t feeling good.
We finished our day by riding around the stadiums in Downtown Pittsburgh, so DJ could see them, grabbed lunch, and headed back to Cleveland!
Pittsburgh doesn’t owe us a THING!!! We had fun and we have a list of places we want to go on our next visit! We had the perfect day to chill out and see a few of the cities attractions!
When school is in session it can be hard to go on trips with your family, and this is why we went for 24 hours. We had to get back for extracurricular activities the following day, but if not we definitely would’ve stayed for the entire weekend instead of 24-Hours in Pittsburgh. If you live close to Pittsburgh it’s definitely a great idea to go for a short trip if you need a quick getaway! One year for our anniversary, my husband and I went for dinner!
Have you ever been to Pittsburgh? What is your favorite part of the city? Would you consider taking a 24-hour trip to Pittsburgh?
