Dear Emma and DJ…As we head back into another school year, I wanted to write you a back-to-school letter from Daddy and me! Daddy and I couldn’t be more proud of the two of you! You two have navigated this pandemic like CHAMPS! Emma, you completed 1st grade remotely, then navigated into 2nd grade and wore a mask all day every day and didn’t miss a beat even when your school went to remote learning then back to in-person learning! DJ, you completed preschool remotely, then handled a full year of Kindergarten remotely with some in-person at Emma’s school, and over Tauntie’s house! I tear up each time I think about how resilient you two have been during this whole pandemic! You took things in stride! You gave Daddy and me hugs at times when you didn’t know we were COMPLETELY stressed out!
You both pulled out games, to have a game night or recommended we have popcorn and watch a movie at the times when Daddy and I felt defeated from everything we had going on. You two never knew how you reassured us during this process, to let us know all we were doing was totally worth it!
I know you won’t read this back-to-school letter now, but in the future, you will…and speaking on behalf of both me and Daddy, you two are amazing and God knew exactly what he was doing when he blessed us with you all (Darrick II included)!
As we head into another school year next week, I wanted to write you a back-to-school letter to let you know much we’re rooting for you! Emma, you are starting a new chapter at a new school, and I am one ball of nerves but I’m also excited for you! I know you will do great, and know that Mommy and Daddy and cheering you on every step of the way! DJ, you are technically starting a new chapter too…the school you were supposed to attend physically last year as a Kindergartener you will now be attending as a new student for first grade! As with Emma, Mommy and Daddy love you are behind you every step of the way!
As we all head into another school year, with new chapters starting, new routines, new friends, new opportunities I pray that this year is successful for us all, I pray for all of our safety as we go to and from school, and while you two are at school and we are at work! I pray for your teachers that they have a great year, and they take time with you all and your learning styles. Mommy and Daddy are praying for your mental, physical and spiritual development this school year, and the school years to come!
