The Graduate Hotel Columbus was a great place to plan a staycation! A couple of weeks ago, the kids had a long weekend from school, so we headed to Columbus for a quick change of scenery! My family has always loved a quick road trip and hotel stay, its actually something we have been doing since we first got together and our children have enjoyed since they were little! Originally, we planned to go to Cincinnati, but after going back and forth with the idea we waited too long to schedule and plan so we decided to stay in Columbus. We love Columbus, so this was perfect for us!
The Graduate Hotel is a chain of hand-crafted boutique hotels, located in the heart of the most dynamic University towns in America. Described to help you relive your glory days with Graduate, and that mission is definitely accomplished…especially coming from The Ohio State University Alumni!
I recently learned about the Graduate Hotel from my daughter’s teacher who stayed in Cincinnati and her pictures were so beautiful I knew we had to stay there! Once I started researching I knew we would love it and we had to plan a trip! As you know we are HUGE sports fans, and all of the Ohio State decor was right on time for us!
As I stated we did our research prior to coming and realized there was a Shake Shack connected to the hotel. It’s not apart of the hotel but accessible through a dining room. Coming into the city, we placed our order so it would be ready when we got there, however, if we would’ve waited there was a perk for checking in and placing an order!
Prior to COVID one of the things we loved doing as a family is taking a quick road trip and doing a quick staycation in a nearby city! We would take short trips, stay in a hotel and relax then come home. We didn’t have to have an itinerary, family members to visit…we would just go and enjoy being with each other! We would pick up a couple of family meals to enjoy in our room, and just be!
This was pretty much our plan for Columbus! We needed a change of scenery, and we all just simply needed a break!
The Graduate Hotel Columbus was absolutely perfect for this!
We came in on a Thursday evening, and honestly, aside from the hotel employees, we saw one other couple coming off the elevator so we never ran into a lot of people! The elevators were sectioned off, but there was a sign that asked that you only group in the elevators if you are from the same household. There were squares to stand in if there were four people who weren’t family, however, when the door opened on our way downstairs the next morning, the person said they would wait until it came back up to get on which we appreciated!
The rooms were amazing!! From the Ohio State decor to the entire room set up, everything was just cozy! My husband and I agreed that our room was strictly for relaxing!
Everything about this room says relax!!! And I have stayed in many hotels, but this one game be vibes of just chilling out!
The kids enjoyed being in a hotel room for the evening! From enjoying dinner from Shake Shack and just sitting around doing nothing I think it was the getaway they totally needed. And I truly believe we will do this again, but for an entire weekend. To say we weren’t a little nervous because we are in a pandemic would be an understatement but if we hadn’t felt comfortable we could’ve found somewhere else to stay or gone back home since we were only 2 hours away from home!
If you have been following my family and me for a while, you know we love sports, and staying at the Graduate Hotel Columbus was a great experience! Even the kids paid attention to all of the OSU details that surrounded the decor of the hotel!
Personally, I totally understand everyone isn’t comfortable with staying in a hotel at the moment, but if you are looking for a location to stay at and you want to make sure they’re following COVID safe protocols…I highly recommend staying at one of the Graduate Hotels! The decor is nostalgic, the rooms and beds are comfortable, and the hotel is doing an amazing job of abiding by the Ohio COVID guidelines! I definitely felt like we picked a great location to stay at for our overnight staycation, and I can’t wait to stay at some of the other Graduate Hotel locations! Columbus was our first, but definitely won’t be our last!!!
