If you have ever met DJ you would know he eats, sleeps, and breathes sports! He watches it religiously, and he will play any sport, he loves it! Crazy how you can see something that your child is passionate about at such a young age! Due to COVID-19, DJ only had a chance to play one season of flag football. We were planning on letting him play in the Spring and Summer because he loves it so much, but that was put on hold…and although the signup has opened back up we haven’t felt comfortable with him playing. When I saw the that the Cleveland Cavaliers Youth Sports was having a Cavalittles Clinic this summer I was hoping DJ would have a chance to go play. But in the back of my mind I’m still a little scared to let him play!
The Cavalittles Clinic is for the smallest Cavs fan to learn introductory basketball skills, and the importance of teamwork! Open to youth ages 3-6, and must be accompanied by an adult. The adult will participate in the Clinic, too! Each young athlete will receive a t-shirt, Spalding basketball & ticket to a future Cavaliers home game.
Doors open at 4:30, Clinic Runs from 5pm-6pm!
If you have been to any CAVS events outside of games, you know that they take great care of everyone around and are a VERY family friendly organization! I had LOTS of questions before signing up for the clinic, but I loved that when I went to the website I had a chance to read through the safety policy!

Each Cavalittles Clinic attendee has to have an adult participate with them! This ensures that social distancing rules are met, and everyone stays safe during the clinic!

*INFORMATION HAS BEEN UPDATED TO COMPLY WITH NEW GUIDELINE’S FROM GOVERNOR DEWINE
FOR THE STATE OF OHIO AND CUYAHOGA COUNTY AS OF JULY 13,2020
“Cavs Academy Skills Training Clinics presented by Gatorade and Monsters Hockey Series presented by Dippin’ Dots COVID-19 Safety Protocol Information
The following guidelines and procedures have been created to ensure the Cavs Academy Skills Training Clinics presented by Gatorade and the Monsters Street Hockey Series presented by Dippin’ Dots at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse meet the State of Ohio’s regulations for skills training activities for sports, including:
Arriving at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse:
• At check-in, security will check bags and temperatures of each athlete and their family members. If any family member is over the temperature threshold of 100.4 degrees, the family will not be permitted to enter the building.
• One family member per athlete is welcome to stay and watch the clinic. Family members will be seated at least six feet apart from each other in the lower bowl of the FieldHouse and will be required to wear a face covering at all times. Additional face coverings will be available at check-in for those who are in need. Athletes participating in the clinic WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS in accordance with the State’s mandatory mask mandate for Cuyahoga County.
During Each Clinic:
• The Cavs Academy Skills Training Clinics will have a maximum capacity of 30 boys and girls and the Monsters Hockey Series will have a maximum capacity of 40.
• Individual skill stations will be set up at least six feet apart on both the main court and the practice court at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
• There will be no drills that put athletes in direct contact with each other.
• Athletes will be asked to bring their own individual capped water bottles labeled with their name to avoid congregating at drinking stations. Individual bottles of water and Gatorade will also be available for athletes during the clinic.
After Each Clinic:
• Equipment, courts and restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized before and after each clinic.
The following safety protocols are also in place at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse:
• All staff members at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse are required to wear a face covering at all times.
• A Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Clean Team Member will be assigned to each event to maintain the facilities overall cleanliness and a safe environment for guests.
• Hand sanitizer dispensers will be available to guests throughout the FieldHouse.
• Signage will be displayed throughout the facility to remind guests of proper social distancing and hygiene protocol as well as cleaning and disinfecting updates.
• Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse air systems are equipped with three technologies shown to be effective in killing or capturing viruses, pathogens and particulates: UV germicidal irradiation (UVGI), highly efficient filtration and bipolar ionization. The bipolar ionization system imparts a static charge to viruses, pathogens and particulates to attack them and reduce their ability to travel through the air. (Website)”
I can’t stress enough the faith that I have in the CAVS organization in regards to everyone’s safety for the Cavalittles Clinic. If you have some reservations about registering, please reach out to them!
