Prior to the pandemic, I had summer plans for Emma and DJ. Both were going to attend a Summer Academic Program at my job. Emma’s program would be Monday through Friday, and DJ would attend on Tuesday and Thursdays. Perfect right! Here we are now, DJ’s program was canceled and Emma’s program is now a virtual program. This also leaves me to plan for Summer at home. The world has opened back up but we aren’t 100% comfortable with being out and about just yet. This is why I have decided to purchase a few activity sets that will keep my children busy at home!
During the first shut down, we purchased a Kinetic Sand Kit for the kids. We purchased the kit but also additional sand to add color and more fun for Emma and DJ. The sand is actually been one of our favorite activities to enjoy together! Darrick and I have played with the sand with the kids! At the beginning of our quarantine period, Darrick had wrist surgery and the Kinetic Sand was awesome to help with his daily exercises!
Kinetic Sand
Kinetic Sand also has a lot of add ons that can be fun for children. As I stated we purchased more colors and with the colors we received additional castle molds. My children decided to make a city of colorful sandcastles.
The next activity that your children will probably love is Rock Painting! I’ve seen pictures online of people that find rocks online with sweet messages on them. I’ve always wanted to paint rocks with the kids, and while we may still do that I know for sure we are going to do some glow in the dark rock painting!
Glow in the Dark Rock Painting
Glow in the dark rock painting takes rock painting to another level! I know the kids will love it if we paint the rocks and put them around the city for people to find.
There are so many activity kits that can keep children busy! From coloring kits to jewelry making kits, depending on what your children are interested in, you can find different kits to keep them busy in the summer.
Emma will be in an academic program in the first part of the morning, and the second portion of the day will be up to me to keep them busy while I work from home. These kits will help me plan our days each week, and plan for days when it’s raining and we can’t go outside!
Another kit that your children will love is Window Art or Suncatcher Kits. I’ve purchased these kits when my children were as young as 3 years old. With supervision, your children will love painting and hanging these up in the windows.
Window Art
I’ve also purchased a few of the religious suncatchers for our nursery at church. The younger children at church love painting these and being able to take them home!
Water-Doodle Mat also is another suggestion for a little fun at home with the kids! This is something I know Emma and DJ will enjoy together.
Window-Doodle Mat
Emma has been having DJ play school with her, and I’m sure the Water-Doodle Mat will be perfect for the work that Emma the “teacher” will assign her “student”!
The last activity is one that I really want to do with the kids because they loved watching their caterpillars turn into butterflies in their classrooms at school. The only thing is I’m deathly afraid of any kind of insects, so if my husband agrees to take over this activity.
Butterfly Garden
What’s great is that you can find everything you need on Amazon for this activity! Even the caterpillars!
