When I first became a mom, I was notorious for packing EVERYTHING but the kitchen sink in the diaper bag! I was so consumed with being a great mother and making sure I had everything, that I often forgot about myself. I remember being out and about with my daughter and I had my own personal emergency that I realized I didn’t need everything at all times, and it’s okay to keep some items in the bag for myself! Being a new mom can be so overwhelming. There is so much to learn and remember in a short period of time, and like most new mothers you’re so consumed with doing everything right and having everything you need that we lose ourselves in the process. We forget about our everyday needs, oftentimes we are rushing out the door with the baby and all of their needs that bringing anything for yourself besides a wallet with an ID, Credit Card and possibly some cash isn’t happening.
Items that New Mama’s Should Keep in the Diaper Bag…
Wristlet…the wristlet should be large enough to fit your keys, phone, money, credit cards, and basic lip gloss. If you need to get out of the car with the baby and wristlet, you will have the basics with you.
Cosmetic Case…when you become a new mom the last thing you are probably thinking about is makeup. Believe me, I totally get it, but I’ve also been in doctors offices and realize that I looked a little rough, so I pulled out some lip gloss and facial powder and freshened my face up. In my cosmetic case I carried; color lipgloss or lipstick, mascara, and foundation. Sometimes a quick 5-minute spruce up will make you feel better!
Extra Charger…I am never without my charging cord or portable charger! You never know when you may be somewhere longer than expected, the last thing you want with a new baby is to be without a charger.
Mommy Snacks…there is nothing worse than being stuck in a doctors office or somewhere else and the baby is hungry and so are you. It’s important to pack snacks for yourself since you know you will have food for the baby! It’s a good idea to pack a few snacks…because you never know what you will need to get your energy level back up. My children aren’t babies anymore, but I still live by this rule; come prepared with snacks for everyone!
Body Spray…Of course, I use body spray for its intended use, however, I use body spray more than the average mom; sometimes its car air freshener, or spray after cleaning up a poopy diaper in a public place.
Self-Care Items…you just had a baby, most likely you will need to keep sanitary napkins on you at all times. But there is something else that new moms should keep on them and its PREPARATION H® Rapid Relief with Lidocaine Totables® Hemorrhoidal Wipes and PREPARATION H® Rapid Relief with Lidocaine Hemorrhoidal Cream.
