At the end of May, we celebrated our 7th Anniversary. We originally had big plans for the day, but we ended up spending time together and enjoying the day together as a family. Pittsburgh is always fun for us, it’s the place we got engaged, and it was one of the first places Darrick and I went together as a couple.
For the weekend we rode around in the Mazda CX-5! I absolutely LOVE the Mazda SUV’s! There are so many features that I love and the way it handles the road is excellent. My husband and I usually argue (not seriously) on who’s going to drive! I usually give in, I have no problem being the “shot-gun man.”
We woke up Saturday morning and we got on the road. Our first stop was Phipps Conservatory. I’ve never spent time in a conservatory before, I went to one in college for an assignment I went in gathered the information for my assignment, took pictures and left. This time was a little different, we spent a few hours viewing the entire conservatory. The Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden is a historic landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Butterfly Forest was Ahhhmazing!!!
Emma was so serious about making sure to find all of the butterflies! It was very humid in the Butterfly Forest but we walked through a few times to make sure to find all the butterflies!
We really enjoyed seeing Van Gogh in Bloom which is a current exhibit at the Conservatory. Van Gogh’s legendary paintings are recreated with flowers, majestic trees, and hand-crafted props.
After we left the Conservatory…we stopped in Cranberry Township at Smokey Bones! I didn’t take a picture of my food, and I rarely get dessert when we go out to eat but I couldn’t pass this up!
After our trip to Smokey Bones, we headed back home! Even though I would’ve loved to stay overnight because I LOVE Pittsburgh, we really enjoyed our “Day Trip”!
We headed back to Cleveland, and our car alerted us of some major storms headed our way based on being connected to the Apple Car Play from my phone. I absolutely LOVED this feature! Living in the Midwest, we always have weather alerts; from snowstorms to tornados. A lot of times while driving I am unable to look at my phone or watch to read the warning but it coming up on the screen to alert me, kept me aware of the weather as we were coming back into the Northeast Ohio area.
