We usually reserve family dates on the weekends because life is so hectic during the week. And I must admit that I am a stickler for bedtime, and no it’s not because I want to get rid of my kids it’s because I know they function better when they have had a restful nights sleep! However, we went against the rules a couple of weeks ago and we went to City Barbeque in Beachwood, OH.
The service was excellent, we were greeted at the door by Doretha and another young lady and they were absolutely amazing! They gave us suggestions on finding the best meal for our family and suggesting the best combinations.
Honestly, I am not big on ribs but I love sides, brisket and pulled pork. However, when I viewed the menu ahead of time I figured the best thing to get would be a platter that we could all eat from.
We ended up going with Judge’s Sampler…
The Judge’s Sampler is 1/4 chicken and 1/2 slab of ribs, plus pulled pork, beef brisket, 2 sides, 2 cornbreads, and Texas toast. We sides we picked were fresh cut fries with cheese and bacon and baked beans with brisket. Now let me tell you I NEVER opt for beans, but those beans and brisket…what a combination! They were delicious!
The meat comes without sauce on it…you pick the sauce that you want!
Darrick grabbed our sauce, so I actually forgot to go back and look and the flavor I liked. I remember it had a sweet flavor to it, and a tangy kick at the end!
