One of my marriage goals this year was to spend more time dating my husband! Its February, and I must admit we have been doing a great job of working on this. A few weeks back Darrick and I had to go to Columbus to handle some business, it was a very quick trip and we were actually back before Emma got out of school.
After handling business we stopped for a quick bite to eat before heading home. The Polaris/Westerville area of Columbus is always our go-to before getting on the road! After circling the block a few times, we picked Local Cantina.
Local Cantina is a restaurant which offers tacos and other Mexican specialties, as well as local craft beers, margaritas, and cocktails.
The vibe in Local Cantina was super laid back! When we arrived we were told to sit anywhere we want, so in true Carissa form, I picked the “grandest seat in the house.”
We didn’t get a chance to have a drink because we were getting on the road to Cleveland, and that’s something we aren’t into drinking while road tripping.
After being seated, I came back from the restroom and Darrick was grabbing us chips and salsa from the self-serve salsa bar station. The chips and salsa were Ahhhhmazing! So fresh, and if I could’ve brought some home with me I would’ve! I think we ate so much that we didn’t want a big portion for lunch.
We actually arrived at the perfect time, there weren’t many people in the restaurant when we first got there, however, once we were in our seats and comfortable and the real lunchtime came around…it was PACKED! But I can so understand why…the delicious food and price! I wish we had one in Cleveland, close to my job…I would definitely be a regular!
We ordered…
Street Corn: Grilled Corn, Seasoning, Aioli, Queso Fresco, Cilantro & Fajita Nachos: Black Beans, Queso, Peppers, Onions, Pico, Lettuce, Sour Cream, made with Chicken and Steak
The food was awesome and it had lots of flavor! The queso on our nachos was amazing! Darrick and I were saying how we should’ve requested more for our nachos.
The best part is that our total meal only cost us $15!!!! Awesomesauce!!!! We couldn’t believe it…our Nachos were $9 (large portion) and the Corn was $5! I basically felt like I had robbed the place for getting such good food for cheap!
Darrick and I enjoyed ourselves, we watched a couple of the basketball game highlights on the TV, so for us, it was truly the best of both worlds…sports and Mexican cuisine! Sometimes when you have to “adult” you need somewhere to unwind afterward, and Local Cantina was that place! We are in Columbus a few times a year, so I hope to go back and enjoy Margarita’s next time!
