A couple of times a year I have to go to Columbus, OH for work. Usually, I go for educational seminars and workshops, and this time was no different! I don’t mind going because I love going back to Columbus whenever I get the chance, and its great to get away from my daily surroundings and see some new things. And since I used to live there it’s like going back to my old “stomping grounds.” This particular weekend, Darrick and I planned to have a romantic weekend away before the holidays, however, with him recently having surgery he had follow-up appointments with his surgeon, and he couldn’t reschedule because of the holiday schedules. So it was the Mitsubishi SEL S-AWC and I cruising around Columbus, OH!
This trip was a little different because usually when I go to Columbus, its a day trip but this time I was attending a Conference and I stayed overnight. On my way down, I realized that this was actually my first overnight Conference and my first time staying in a hotel by myself! I mean I had my coworkers with me, but I was on my own! So I guess it was somewhat of a milestone trip for me! We stayed at the Marriott Columbus University Area, it was nice, there was a little confusion at the beginning from the front desk attendants which put a damper on my mood, however, it quickly turned around.
When we arrived, we had time to grab a quick lunch then attend our afternoon sessions. After our sessions, we caught the hotel shuttle and found a place to eat. After some going back and forth the shuttle driver (who was AHHHMAZING, and from Akron, OH) suggested we try Cap City Diner. Cap City Fine Diner and Bar is a restaurant under the Cameron Mitchell chain of restaurants. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of my meal but I remember I had the Romano Crusted Chicken (crispy fried chicken, garlic buttered noodles, roasted tomato cream sauce)…it was absolutely delicious! One of my coworkers ordered the Blue Cheese Potato Chips ( homemade potato chips with blue cheese, chives and Alfredo sauce), OMG they were AMAZING!!!!
Yall, I still have literally still been thinking about the Blue Cheese Potato Chips and trying to figure out if I can recreate this recipe until I get back to Columbus.
Back to the Mitsubishi Outlander…
I had the Outlander for about 6 days, and almost every day it rained, snowed, or was just downright icky outside. I was a little nervous about going to Columbus in it, not because it wasn’t good on the road but because I thought I would’ve been more comfortable in my own car while it was raining/snowing! However, I had a great time driving the Mitsubishi Outlander! I love going on road trips, but I LOVE being comfortable in a car no matter if I am the driver or the passenger. And it held the road, VERY WELL…and it was fast (

Overall, I really enjoyed cruising around in the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander and taking a solo overnight trip! Next year I plan to take another overnight trip by myself, just for relaxation purposes, and to get comfortable keeping myself company again. When you’re a mom, you are so used to others being with you at all times that you are no longer comfortable with being by yourself, however, I plan to reclaim my time and get back to myself!
