Last month we celebrated DJ’s Birthday…we celebrated the BIG Four!!! As you know DJ loves all things sports related and for his birthday it was no different! His birthday was on a Tuesday, and we celebrated by surprising him by taking him to his first Cavalittles Academy!
We didn’t tell him until we arrived, what he was doing because we knew DJ would have 5000 questions! I don’t know if it was shock or what but when he got there and saw the CAVS logos he looked totally surprised and got really quiet, with an unsure look on his face. However, once we talked in the gym and he saw the other kids playing in an open gym format, it was GAME time! He went straight to his Daddy to help him get ready (he didn’t come to Mommy like he usually does…sad face), and once his coat was off and his shoes tied up he was on the court!
What is Cavalittles Academy?
The Cavs Academy “Cavalittles” Clinic is a clinic for Boys and Girls ages 3-5! Its an hour long clinic and during that hour the kids participate in groups to learn basic basketball skills.
I must admit watching the 3-5 year olds play basketball and “try” to follow directions of the coaches had to be by far the cutest thing EVER!
The Cavs Academy holds clinics for children of all ages! This particular clinic was for the smaller kids but there are camps and clinics throughout the year for children of all ages.
Follow Cavs.com/Academy or Cavs.com/Academy for upcoming clinics and summer camps!
This is actually the first birthday that we celebrated with an “experience” over just going to dinner! And I must say I think he thoroughly enjoyed it! He even asked if we had basketball the next day!
What I loved about the Clinics is that it gives the parent a chance to see if their child is ready to participate or interested in sports! We found out with DJ that T-Ball wasn’t his “thing” through a mini-season! I’m all for trying it out to see if it’s something the child really likes before putting out the big bucks for a full season!
Also, the coaches are AMAZING! They make each child feel as if they’re the next big thing in basketball! They motivate them from the time they walk in until we walk out the door! I wish it was actually longer than one evening, maybe mini-camp this age group for a couple of days or a week because the children really love it!
