Every year my husband’s family gets together for a family weekend in Columbus! What originally started as a day-trip to Zoombezi Bay quickly turned into a full-weekend in and around Columbus, OH! This year our trip was the last week in July, and my family stayed at The Renaissance Westerville Hotel.
Usually, when we plan this trip to Columbus we have no issues with finding a hotel, however, the weekend of July 27-28, 2018 was a very busy weekend! It was hard finding a hotel, but I lucked up on finding us a room at The Renaissance in Westerville, OH. The Westerville/Polaris area is one of one of our favorite areas to stay in because you have access to a mall, stores, restaurants and so much more.
Our stay at The Renaissance was nothing short of amazing. I love that you got the luxury feel from the hotel in a suburban neighborhood!
We absolutely needed this trip! Our summer has been pretty good but since all the changes this year, taking a family vacation just wasn’t in the budget. We moved earlier this year, and once we got settled; the school year was ending, Emma had surgery, and the following week she unexpectedly had to be put under anesthesia, DJ played a mini-season of T-Ball (Darrick Coached), my hours at work picked up (which was a good thing), Darrick went from 8-hour days to 10-hour days…overall it was just a lot! And the week we planned to take a couple of days off to have some family time together was put on the back burner! So even though it was only a weekend, we needed this weekend more than anyone understood!
Our room was amazing! There was a lakehouse theme that ran throughout the entire hotel, and it even poured over into the rooms and hallways.
And even with children, I could tell a weekend away was just what they needed! They came in and made themselves at home! My sister recently bought them their own luggage sets, so they were excited about carrying them and unpacking them once they got to the room…
More about the Renaissance Westerville…
“Located off of Polaris Parkway and near Uptown Westerville, the modern American lake house-inspired hotel will feature 222 rooms and 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and banquet space with the capacity to seat up to 750 guests.
The restaurant within the hotel, The Two-One, offers an eclectic American-themed menu featuring shared plates, salads, sandwiches, unique cocktails and mouth-watering entrees, such as smoked short rib, salmon or white cheddar popcorn cavatelli. Guests can dine overlooking the lake and fountain, whether sitting indoors or on the outdoor patio. Fire pits are available by the water to enjoy an after-dinner drink or s’mores (website).”
Overall, my family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Renaissance in Westerville, OH! We usually come to Columbus, OH a few times a year and stay overnight, I am pretty sure The Renaissance will be one of our “go-to” hotels! I didn’t get a chance to eat at The Two-One, however, our next trip I am not leaving until we have tried it!
