The last four years have been a whirlwind to say the least. In 2014, my husband, daughter and I moved in with my parents. From 2012 to 2014 we were knee deep in surgeries and care for our daughter that was born with a cleft lip and palate, so I stopped working to take care of her. My husband worked until we received the news that his job was moving to Kentucky, we entertained the idea of moving but with Emma and her team of doctors it was too much. Once we moved with my parents we found out we were pregnant with twins. Things finally started to calm down and the twins were born and one was severely ill (only lived 58 days), and passed away. This set us back emotionally and it was a great thing we lived with my parents because not only did we need help with the two children at home while Darrick II was in the hospital but we needed the emotional support.
Fast forward to today, we are living in our own place and enjoying the rainbow after the storm! Prior to moving with my parents, one of the things my husband loved to do is entertain. We are big sports fans and we loved having people over for different sporting events.
We have been in our new home for almost 3 months and I am itching to have a get-together. But I forgot how expensive entertaining can be!!
How to Save Money at Giant Eagle While Entertaining Family and Friends…
Create a Budget based on the number of invitees that you have coming to your gathering!
Check out Giant Eagle’s Advertisements and website for “Price Slashed” Items
Giant Eagle has slashed prices on over 5,000 everyday items! The price cuts are permanent and there is no end date! Prices have been cut on everyday products; such as dairy, grocery, pet, frozen, household items, snacks & cereal.
Items throughout the store are marked with “Another Slashed Price” tag.
I usually have an idea of what foods I would like on my menu for the get-together prior to going to the store. However, if I know at least one thing I want to make I can usually build my menu off of that.
For our first get together, I am planning on doing small plate appetizers. I picked up a Stouffer’s Party Size Lasagna because we always have a pasta dish.
Next, I added French Fries, but instead of just basic french fries, I created a small French Fry Bar.
I saved a great deal on the French Fry Bar, the fries, bacon bits and cheese were all on the Slashed Price List!
Once I really started paying attention to the Slashed Price signs, I literally saw them everywhere!
When we moved I thought since we had to get used to essentially living on our own again that it would take some time to adjust before we could do any type of entertaining, however, with Giant Eagle prices being slashed, I know that I am able to get everything I need for entertaining with money to spare for extras!
