This is a sponsored post, as a Cedar Point Blogger, I received Complimentary Overnight Stay and Waterpark Admission at Castaway Bay, in Sandusky, Ohio. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
For the last 3 years, my family and I look forward to taking a break from the cold weather for an overnight stay at Castaway Bay. Two weeks ago, we had the pleasure of getting that much-needed break! From October to December it seems like all we do is run, run, run, run and last year was no different, it barely seemed like we had a break for Holidays. When January rolled around it was no different, we were still in “GO” mode…so having a night away at Castaway Bay was just what we ALL NEEDED!
A couple of nights before we went to Castaway Bay I showed the children pictures and told them we were going to a special place! They saw the water and were sold, it was also my bribery method for getting them to act right for a few days…you know the whole “if you don’t act right, we can’t go swimming or to see Snoopy”…let’s just say it was a #MomWin
As we rode to Sandusky, Darrick and I talked about how we had been asked if going to Castaway Bay gets old and we both came to the conclusion that it doesn’t. It’s actually fun to see from year to year how the children will react to going to Castaway Bay, after all, we have been going since before DJ was born. Our first year it was only the three of us!
Let me share My 5 Reasons Why Going to Castaway Bay Every Year Never Gets Old…
Swimming Of Course…When the current outside temps is below zero for almost two weeks, going to a place that has 80-degree weather is a no-brainer! We actually picked a great weekend to go because it wasn’t SUPER cold, it was just gloomy outside! Having a chance to swim during weather is always a bonus. When I pulled out our swimming clothes to pack in the suitcase, Emma had 50 questions on why I had out our swimming stuff and it was snow outside!
Quaker Steak and Lube…outside of the fun in the activities its imperative in whatever the event is that there is good food! We usually eat on the way to Castaway Bay so we are full when we get there, and swimming can be our first event. We pack snacks for our room, and we ALWAYS have snacks on us because our children are ALWAYS hungry! However, once we swim and work up an appetite we head to Quaker Steak and Lube! Quaker Steak is located on the other end of the Castaway Bay, you walk down one of the hallways and walk directly into the restaurant! It’s Perfect because once you are there, you don’t have to leave the hotel until its time to go or unless you really want to! It’s truly a resort atmosphere! There are also other restaurants on the property, there’s a breakfast buffet and a snack/coffee shop.
Arcade…my children love any kind of Arcade! We played all of the games and won tickets so they could get a prize! It’s perfect because we swim for a couple of hours then change and go to the arcade and we probably spent about 2 hours in there! I’m not going to lie, Darrick and I were into the games just as much as the kids! We were trying to win tickets for them!! I was well on my way with Deal or No Deal until Emma took my game over!
Castaway Bay Kids Activities…I make sure we time ourselves so we can come to see what the activity of the day is! Emma and I love a good craft so we usually we sit and do the activity but this year we got our craft and snack and took it back to the room. There were little pottery pieces to paint, so we got one for each of us and brought them home to paint!
This year we stopped by a few of the children’s events, to see the characters and pick up the crafts…but we were more about getting rest this year than trying to sit through each event! We stopped in to see Snoopy and participate in Karaoke (the kids wouldn’t get on the stage), so we sang along with other children singing.
Rest and Relaxation…as I stated earlier we had a busy few months at the end of 2017, so this particular weekend we planned to have fun but also get some REST!!! And we did just that! Our day started in the water around Noon, we were back in the room by 8:00pm and the children were tired and their tummies were full…so they eventually drifted off to sleep and we did the same!
As always #TeamGodbott had an amazing night at Castaway Bay! We all enjoyed ourselves, and can’t wait to go back!!!
