When Emma was little my sister suggested that I attend a midweek Bible Study for Moms at her church. I kept giving her the runaround but I finally joined! Talk about God knowing exactly what you need when you need it! Those women helped me get through some tough times, and although I no longer attend the Bible Study Group I longed for a group of women to talk to that came from the same Christian background.
A couple of weeks ago on the way home, I was talking to Darrick and telling him that I should get the moms together from our church. I mean we get together for birthdays and stuff like that but it would be fun just to get together and let the kids run around while we relaxed! And Friday I had the chance to do just that!
It’s been a long time since I have left an event and couldn’t wait to get home to blog about it. I usually write my thoughts down or type my phone and I sit later and blog about them. Last Friday, Veteran’s Day was observed and I along with a few of the mamas from my church were off work. We decided to get together for a playdate at Play Day Cafe!
Play Day Cafe is an indoor playground with a café and party center. Designed for families with kids ages infant to 12, and the different play areas provide a fun, clean and safe place for kids to move non-stop and burn off some energy. When we first walked in I was amazed at how bright and clean the place was. When you go through the gates you must be in socks, so even in the bathroom; the place was SPOTLESS! And that alone made me feel right at home, and know that this was a place that I will definitely be coming back to!
We all met up and it was a great time…
Luckily, we were all able to gather the kids for a group photo! But from the time they walked in until they left they were EVERYWHERE!!
Check them out…
I didn’t share all the pictures but we truly had a good time and are talking about our next time together! What I really loved about this group of moms is that they are truly my sisters; part of my mom tribe. All of us have grown up in church together, so they are not just other moms but my sisters. We have been through lots of things together, from births of our children to personal celebrations and personal loss…but the one thing that I know for sure is that we are all there for each other!
Why you need a Mom Tribe?
All moms definitely need a group of women or one other mom that they can talk to about all things Motherhood! From random topics about diapers, food, to advice on tougher subjects as well. For some, this Tribe can come with different women, or if you are lucky you may have a one that you can talk about everything with!
My tribe comes from the women in my family that are mothers, to moms I have met in my daughters class, moms I work with, other bloggers that are moms, to women at church. They each play an integral role in helping me raise my babies, and I am grateful for them!
I wish I could tell you that you can do it all on your own but it’s just not the truth, even with some of the small details of raising children you need someone that you can go to for advice, someone to laugh with you during the good times and bad, someone that will cry with you, someone that will talk to off the ledge and most importantly someone that will pray with you and for you! And in typing my reasons why, I can think of a woman for each of those scenarios, which is truly a blessing!
