A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of going on an overnight trip to Cranberry Township, PA for a blogging event. From my house to Cranberry was about 90 minutes or so. If you read my blog you know we HATE the Steelers but we LOVE Pittsburgh (had to throw in that disclaimer)!
We loved it even more after going on a Press Trip last year with Visit Pittsburgh.
On this particular trip, since Darrick had to work I took the children with me, so I recruited my mom and niece to help me with the load. They didn’t mind, if you know our family we are ALWAYS down for a road trip! We will literally have fun in the most random places, and Cranberry was no different!
I had never heard of Cranberry before, but my husband has and he gave me a little information about it prior to but I he didn’t know how beautiful it was. It was a nice city nestled on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, PA! Now that may not be the right definition but we loved it! We loved not being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle!
We stayed at the Townplace Suites, which I didn’t know until we arrived that is was a BRAND NEW HOTEL and it was located across from the Pittsburgh Penguins Practice Facility!
Upon check-in, we learned that we were in the middle of the grand opening ceremony! The hotel welcomed us by inviting us to refreshments and a small gift if we left our business cards (which we did).
I had to get to the event that I was there for (more on here) so while I got dressed, my mom and niece picked us up some goodies for the room!
The room was amazing, and we definitely could’ve made it home for a couple of days…but we were there on business so we only stayed for a night!
Once I got home I did a little more research about Cranberry Township and learned all about the Waterpark! It’s a community water park, however, non-residents can come and have fun too! Had I known this prior to we would’ve definitely gone and had some water fun…
Since Emma was only a week out of surgery and hadn’t been cleared to swim (and still hasn’t been cleared) so we ventured to Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh for a little fun (THANK YOU VISIT PITTSBURGH for Hosting us)…and it was only 20 minutes away! WINNING!!!
The Hands-On Harley-Davidson™, the exhibit is now at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh through September 10. I LOVED seeing my children’s faces light up when it was time to get on the motorcycle. The exhibit displays kid-sized motorcycle dealership and engineering lab that lets kids and families Dream It. Build It. Ride It!
We love the Water Floor in the Children’s Museum! It was very warm outside, so letting the kids get wet was everything they needed! Next time I will bring swimming clothes, but they had fun getting their clothes wet and having to have me blow dry them dry afterward! The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh never lets us down!
Although I love visiting different cities and staying in the Downtown area, sometimes it’s good to stay on the outskirts of the city, and that’s exactly what we did in Cranberry Township. It was only 20 minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh and it was the perfect mixture of city and suburban area. And since I was traveling with 3 children and my mom it was perfect for us. We felt safe venturing around the city! We even made a late night run to Target…
