School started 5 weeks ago and already the germs have starting invading our household! Yesterday, afternoon I spoke with Emma’s teacher and she told me that yesterday was the first day that everyone was in class due to children being sick. I believe the biggest adjustment in going back to school is adjusting to all the new germs that are around, especially as the weather gets colder!
Since we are a family that is constantly “on-the-go” from school, to therapy appointments, to doctor appointments, to playdates…and everything in between I like to keep a “Survival Kit” on me at all times to combat anything that arises! I like to think that I already have everything covered so when those hiccups occur I am already prepared…all the way down to Emergen-C packets!
How to Create a Mom On-The-Go Survival Kit…
If you are like me you have a TON of bags, pouches, totes and other items that you can use to carry items for your family. I found an old zippered pouch that I have that was large enough to keep some of my personal items in. It doesn’t take up too much room in my car or diaper bag if I wanted to throw it in there. I made sure I found a bag that had a nice outside so just in case I had to carry it inside a public place its presentable.
This is why I didn’t go with a plastic bag or a paper bag! The bag is also washable just incase anything leaks, and the inside is vinyl so it can easily be wiped out (if need be).
Everyone’s survival kit will be different based on the items that your family uses on a regular basis. Honestly, once I started making my own survival kit I had to narrow the items down because I would basically have the ENTIRE diaper bag in my survival kit.
What’s in My Survival Kit…
Tissue, Crayons, Lotion, Vaseline, Juice Boxes, Fruit Snacks, Peppermints, Pepto Bismol, Sanitary Napkins, Stain Remover Wipes and Emergen-C
What Other Items Can You Include in Your Survival Kit…
Safety Pens, Ink Pens, Notepad, Mommy Snack, Water, Medicine, Thermometer
Your survival kit is just that…your own personal kit!
One of my MUST-HAVES in my survival kit is Emergen-C! My husband introduced me to Emergen-C when we were dating and I haven’t looked back. Emergen-C is always in my survival kit so we can be prepared for cold and flu season.
“Emergen-C® is packed with B vitamins, antioxidants† , electrolytes plus more vitamin C than 10 oranges^. With over 20 flavors, you have plenty of delicious varieties to choose from.” † Zinc and Manganese ^Based on the USDA.gov nutrient database value for a large, raw orange.
Emergen-C in partnership with Charity Water has created the #40Pounds Challenge…this challenge was created help raise awareness about the struggles women and girls in Ethiopia experience each day simply to obtain drinking water. Water that’s not even clean or safe to drink.
For every #40Pounds picture uploaded, through October 31st, Emergen-C will donate $5 to charity: water to help fund projects that bring clean, accessible water to communities in Ethiopia.
As we are getting back into our daily routines of school and extra curricular activities lets take the time to think about children in Ethiopia that would love to attend school daily but cant because they have the job of fetching water for for their families!
