When I look back at older blog post I realized that I haven’t talked about DJ that much on the blog. I am always talking about Emma, or Darrick II but not my youngest child DJ. So today I decided to start the week off talking about my little rambunctious munchkin…that answers to Douglass or DJ!
In about 60 seconds DJ can run over you, step on your foot, take a lap around the kitchen and family room and come back and give you a big hug and kiss! Yes he is that toddler…always doing the MOST!!! He is full of life and all boy…and I feel like he should’ve come with a manual! A manual for Mommy and Daddy to get some rest prior to him being born because we needed ALL of our energy to handle him!
This picture above is from the Rib Cookoff at church and even in the picture you can tell that he is trying to break away from me! DJ is our youngest but he has a lot of big brother qualities! He’s only 21 months but he is the same size as Emma in weight and shoe size (actually I believe he has surpassed her)…he’s not quite the same height as her but that doesn’t stop him! His pediatrician has already told us he should be close to the same height as Shaq by the time he’s done growing (can we start a go fund me now for shoes and clothes)!
On Saturday, DJ turned 21 months…seems like 2 is coming up FAST!!! And as happy as I am for being a healthy and happy little boy, it seems like he didn’t stay a baby long enough! Mommy wants to keep him a baby as long as possible!
When I think about DJ, I often wonder does he miss his twin, or if he will feel like there is a piece of him missing once he gets older. But I have to focus on the reality that is present and that is that he is totally in love with his big sister. Emma and DJ are the best of friends, she teaches him and he teaches her. With Emma having some delays and DJ being a “typical” child when he hits his milestones usually it prompts some of Emma’s milestones as well. For example he is saying more words, when he “praise” him for his new words she wants to receive the same “praise” …so what we are seeing happen is DJ helping his sister without knowing that is what he is doing.
For the last couple of days I have been very emotional when I sit and look at DJ play because I cant help but want him to have his piece that is missing. However, I know that his big brother is watching over him and DJ is making him proud! And even though DJ cant talk in full sentences I feel that we have a connection that no one will ever have, not only are we mother and son but we also hold the connection of having Darrick II us the longest! And no matter how old DJ gets that is something that I will forever be able to understand about him!
Have you checked out DJ’s digs from The Patchery? Since doing this ambassadorship with them the past couple of months, I have thoroughly enjoyed designing their clothes for my children! Not only is it fun but GREAT quality!
