When I initially started planning I said I was going to pick a planner I liked, stick with that one and add my decorations…simple as that! I wasn’t going to get into the trends and stuff, well that didn’t happen and I am all in 3 planners later! The latest trend that I have seen and jumped on the bandwagon is the Black Out Paper Planning (Instagram: #blackoutpaperplanning)…
I saw this on my of my planning/blogging buddy’s IG page on Sunday, and I knew the next day I had to get to the store ASAP to try this! I then stalked the hashtag to figure out which direction I wanted to go in. Since I am a sticker fiend I knew I still wanted to incorporate my stickers…maybe next week I will incorporate some washi. But I think my planner will be “blacked out” until my inserts arrive!
I studied the hashtag very closely on Instagram, before I went to Michael’s.
But before I tell you about my trip to Michael’s, let me share that I am using a new planner. I am now Filofax Domino user…and I must say out of all my planners this one makes me the happiest! Its the perfect size for my purse and the cover is flexible so its not bulky at all. I picked the green one but I would love for them to make this in black or a darker color!
Since I have a new planner it’s only right that I have the proper set up. I have been a Happy Planner user but since I am trying to convert myself to a personal planner, I have to do more customizing so once all of that is done I will share what I come up with. I am also trying to make myself some new dividers. I have gotten really crafty lately! I think I have amazed myself, and my husband just wants to know if I am done buying planners LOL!!
I think I am in LOVE with this trend! It may not be a trend in my book! I think black paper is here to stay in my planner! I LOVE the way it looks. I bought a few pens to try out with it…and I think I like the silver better than the white. The days of the week are written in Silver Marker; I also bought a white marker and a green metallic marker…the green doesnt show up that good, and the white is okay but it doesn’t “pop” like the silver.
I ran out of everything at the same time stickers, sticker paper to print out my own stickers…so I also did a sticker haul and purchased a few grab bags from some of my favorite Etsy sellers ( SG Stationary, Sweet Ava’s Paper and Pip’s Palatte). A lot of the planner sticker sellers make grab bags, the stickers are a surprise but its a good way to buy a lot of stickers for a cheaper price. I have also started buying birthday stickers for the month of April for myself!! Its going to be a party in my planner!
I absolutely LOVE my choice of buying the grab bags because I was sent some stickers that I probably wouldn’t have picked out myself but I absolutely love them…and the stickers show up great on the black out planning paper!!!
