My family absolutely loves movie night…last weekend we had movie night at my sister’s house. I put the kids in their pajamas and we had pizza, popcorn and hot chocolate. But no matter the movie, everyone finds their perfect spot on the couch or floor, finds a snack and they get comfortable. When the Minions movie came out I knew we had to have another movie night!
I was looking forward to our Minions family movie night, because we love the Minions. Ever since Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 came out Emma has been a hug fan!
Since going to preschool, Emma loves ANY kind of craft or activity that she can help out with. Since I knew my niece would come over for the Movie Night, I decided that we should make our own goodie bags and chocolate covered goodies. For our goodie bags, I tried to keep the supplies simple because this was a two-part activity and we started a later than expected.
Supplies:
Minion Stickers
Goggles
2 Permanent Markers
Solid Colored Bags
Since Emma is only 3 I got stickers for her bag, but once she saw her cousin with a marker she needed a marker too! I didn’t give them any directions; only to decorate their bags for their goodies.
By doing activities like these I love that she gets a chance to work on writing her name. And also a chance to express her own creativity. I had to watch her closely with this activity since I didn’t use washable markers, because they didn’t work properly on the bags.
My niece loves to draw, she immediately sat down and looked at the Minions on the stickers and labels and started drawing one.
These bags were the finished products!! My daughter got a little carried away with the marker but its still a masterpiece in my eyes! They both turned out really nice!
Now on to the Candy & Chocolate…
I purchased Pretzel Rods and Wavy Chips, I also purchased candy melts in blue and yellow. I also purchased some milk chocolate melts because I thought it would balance the flavors.
With the holidays approaching, these candy melts must be VERY popular because they were located with the baking items and there was an entire display in every color you could think of. Emma had a great time doing this, I think we may do more in Christmas colors closer to the holiday!
I gave each of them a sheet of parchment paper, I melted the Candy Melts in the microwave. They melted pretty quickly, and I only had to reheat them once. I used the microwave instead of the crockpot or double boiler method because it was quicker and I didn’t want the hot water close to the girls.
Supplies:
Candy Melts
Pretzel Rods
Potato Chips
Sugar Crystals
Honestly, it wasn’t the prettiest of processes but the girls loved it!
They dipped the pretzels and chips then dazzled it in sugar crystals!!
During the movie, the girls enjoyed the first set of pretzels and chips…and the others dried during the movie. After the movie was over we packed them in the bags so they would have their goodies over the next couple of days.
After coating the pretzels and chips we watched Minions!!!
We love this movie! We actually went to the movies to see it, and we knew we were buying it when it came out…I absolutely loved the Minions metal pack! Along with the Minions movie, Target carries a variety of other licensed Minions products. So if your kids are like mine, these items will make excellent gifts!
I found the Blu-Ray/DVD Metal Pak can be found exclusively at Target; the DVD comes with an additional 40 minutes of Target Exclusive content! There was a display located not too far from the entrance of the store, with the holidays approaching I was a little nervous going to purchase the movie because its so popular and I wanted to make sure I got a copy. But Target had a TON of copies and going in the store before 9am probably helped a great deal!
