Creating a popcorn bar was the first thing that came to my mind when my niece asked us to bring popcorn for movie night. Like many of you last week, we couldn’t wait to see The Wiz Live!
I didn’t watch it until the day after it came on, because my sister and I planned a movie night with our family…on Thursday my sister attends a Life Group class so we planned for Pajama & Movie Night at my sisters house on Friday. The WIZ was AWESOME!!! From the costumes to the actors and actresses…I really enjoyed it!
My husband loves popcorn, I like it and there are certain kinds that I LOVE but I don’t eat it as much as my husband and daughter. Emma loves popcorn too (she eats a lot of the white cheddar popcorn with her lunches when she comes home from school)! I guess I can’t complain because it is one of the healthier snacks!
I decided to put a spin on bringing regular popcorn. I decided to create a popcorn bar…
This was the EASIEST mini-bar that I have ever created and it was a MAJOR hit! We have had baked potato bars, nacho bars…we have tried all kinds. If its a family affair one person provides the main thing and everyone else bring toppings…this also works great at office parties!
Now we all know kids love when they can pick out toppings or put any kind of sauce on something. Personally, I love a salty & sweet combination so I knew I had to have some chocolate involved. My sister is always eating almonds so I knew those would be a hit with her, and I am more of a chocolate covered almonds type of person rather than the naked almonds…so thats where the M&M’s came in. I bought regular milk chocolate M&M’s, Peanut M&M’s, Almond M&M’s (request of the husband), Sour Gummy Worms (Emma doesn’t eat a lot of chocolate and neither does my nephew)…so there was something for everyone! My husband also added marshmallows to his popcorn.
I didnt get a picture of the final product or everyones combinations in the popcorn cups but it was the best idea . I added movie butter and sea salt to mine and added plain milk chocolate M&M’s and sour gummy worms. This combination was the BEST…the perfect combination of salty and sweet.
Have you ever made a Popcorn Bar? Or another type of Bar?
I can’t wait to do this again to see what other combinations we can create! I saw an idea on Pinterest for different seasonings, this seems like its catered more for adults than children but Im sure I can incorporate a kid side of the bar and an adult side of the bar!
