Being a special needs parent sometimes you try not to think negatively but you have been in so many appointments listening to things that you dont necessarily want to hear about your child that you kind of go along with a “waiting for the other ball to drop” attitude. Its sad but its real life. I cant tell you how many appointments I have been in with Emma that I am expecting something good to happen and the total opposite has happened, and no matter how much I try to block out these thoughts they still creep up somehow.
Yesterday, we had parent teacher conference with Emma’s teacher and speech therapist at school. I always get anxiety when it comes to these types of appointments…so instead of going by myself I scheduled them for a time when I knew Darrick would be off work so he could go with me.
We met at the school, and on my way to meet him I said a prayer that we get a good report. And THANK YOU JESUS we will got a pretty good report. Besides the fact that Emma is very stubborn but that is something we knew already, they said she is very motherly and she loves helping others out.
We talked about her speech which is our top concern right now and she said that she is advancing well and that they believe she is headed in the direction they want her to go in as far as speech. Let me tell you this little girl takes being stubborn to another level, so we have our work ahead of us but between work at school and work at home…and LOTS of prayer Im certain we will get her to her age level!
