When I became a mom I felt like I automatically became a part of a secret society…but I loved it! I love being a mom and my experience came with so many challenges I realized that I not only became a mom but an advocate for my child.
One of the things that I didn’t realize until becoming a mom was how many moms were homeschooling! Honestly, when I found out about homeschooling I was so proud to see mothers drop everything to make sure their children received the best education possible, but then I was also proud of the mothers who are working and homeschooling at the same time.
When I was in school you only heard of a few kids that were homeschooled. But now with the cost of daycare and preschool, and the unsafe school environments many parents are taking education into their own hands. They follow a curriculum plan from their local districts or a school of their choice, but the add an additional title of teacher!
I have often talked to Darrick about homeschooling if I ever feel that Emma (or DJ’s) needs aren’t being met in school. But when I think about it I am often overwhelmed at the thought because there is so much that goes into homeschooling. When I did a little bit of research I realized that there are MANY resources to help you in learning about the process and what steps to take if this is something you are interested in doing…
