Emma started school last March because she turned 3 in February. She attends an Elementary School for Preschool because they have a program that gives her and us the assistance with her Special Needs. During her half-day she receives Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapy, and she still gets a chance to have her interaction with her classmates. Her class is comprised of students with Special Needs and student mentors (kids with no delays that help the other students…method: children learn from other children)…
Today is her first day of school and I have created my own set of goals for this year in order for us to be successful…
Read More Books to the Kids…we have tons of books and we read them but not as often as I would like. I would like to carve out more time to read to both children. Bedtime is good but it doesn’t have to be at bedtime; since I am home daily I would love to read earlier during the day.
Get this Family Organized…I just ordered a weekly calendar to help with getting us organized from week to week. But I also won an Erin Condren Teacher Planner; Im not a teacher but I feel that it will help me to get organized. I have owned an Erin Condren before and loved them so I know I can’t go wrong with this one!
Spend more Weekends around the House…Emma only has school Monday-Thursday, but last school year it seemed like every day we were running around, including the weekends. This year I plan to have more weekends that we do things around the house rather than “ripping and running” the entire weekend and being tired during the week. More weekends doing what we want rather than going on everyone else’s schedules.
Make More SAHM Mom Friends…Honestly, no one tells you how lonely it can get being home during the day. I spend lots of time with my parents because they are retired but I would love to find other moms that are in the same situation as I am. Emma and I took Mommy and Me classes when she was little, I plan to enroll in some of those for DJ and I because he has LOTS of energy! Maybe get back into a Mommy Bible Study while Emma is in school, and DJ can play with the other children.
Make Sure Everything is Prepared the Night Before…towards the end of the school year I got comfortable in my routine and wouldn’t get Emma’s clothes and paperwork ready until the morning and a few minutes before I had to have her at school. This year with Emma having to be there earlier, its absolutely mandatory that I am prepared the night before! I also would like to have everyone prepared, not just Emma!
What are your goals for the School Year?
I will leave you with this 1st Day of School Prayer…
