I was provided complimentary tickets to Wildwater Kingdom to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own
Often times life gets so busy that you don’t realize you need a break until you take an unexpected one. Last week I received an invite to go to Geauga Lake’s Wildwater Kingdom Blogger Day on July 11. We haven’t been to a water park in a while, and we needed the getaway so I GLADLY accepted the invitation!
I invited my sister and her family to go with us…
On our way there I was talking to my husband and we both couldn’t remember if we had been to Wildwater Kingdom before, so I guess we were long overdue for a trip! Once we got there we all spent a couple of hour in the water! Yes, a couple of hours…you didn’t realize how long you had been in the water until you got out and checked…
There was something there for EVERYONE!!! ALL AGES!!!
My favorite area was actually the Splash Landing…this was the first area we got to and actually stayed majority of the time. Splash Landing is four stories of water slides, soaking gadgets, geysers, water cannons and a giant bucket dropping 1,000 gallons of water every few minutes. Our kids are pretty little so this was just enough for them. I strapped DJ on to me in the baby carrier and we climbed our way to the top. Emma stayed with Daddy and they climbed and stood right underneath the bucket dropping the water down on everyone…she even lost her shoes she was having so much fun (we found them after the big splash)!
DJ and I stood off to the side during the bucket drop but we still got soaked, this was his first time at any type of water park and he did very well for 8 months old! We didn’t get ANY tears in the water, only when he got tired towards the end of the trip!
My husband’s favorite was Tidal Wave Bay…he loves the waves! I must say this area was a lot more relaxed than Splash Landing. The waves were calming and not to rough! I loved how the cabana’s were lined around the Bay…maybe next time we can rent one for the day!
Everyone went their own way to try out different things…my niece, nephew and brother in law did the Liquid Lightning. Since we are planning to go back again before the summer is over…Im going to try to get my courage up to do this with them the next time. My sister was able to get in the water then relax in the beach chairs and work on her tan for the summer (she’s always in competition with my dad on who’s tan is better)…I think she got him beat right now! We couldn’t have asked for a better day, weather wise than last Saturday!
My parents didn’t get a chance to go with us this time, so we are planning another trip before the summer is out! The park is awesome and just the right size! Not to big were everyone gets lost and doesn’t meet back up until the end of the day, but just big enough were you try out different things you were interested in and come back and tell each other how they were. Also we were able to get row of beach chairs and we were able to stay there the entire day…so we ate lunch together and talked about the things we tried out!
The kids enjoyed the day so much…this is how we returned home!
Silence!!!! Ohhh THANK YOU Wildwater Kingdom!!! LOL!!!
We attended Geauga Lake’s Wildwater Kingdom which is part of Cedar Fair Amusement Parks…this particular park is the sister park to Cedar Point and Kings Island among 14 other parks! The park is located near Cleveland in Aurora, Ohio on 17-acres. It was originally built on a natural lake (Geauga Lake) between the city of Aurora and Bainbridge Township and was part of the Geauga Lake Amusement Park. However, after the amusement park closed it operates solely as a water park. Its the only stand alone outdoor water park owned by Cedar Fair outside of California.
Wildwater Kingdom is open from the end of May through Labor Day. From June through mid-August the park is opened an extra hour because of summer heat. From mid-August through Labor Day its only open on the weekends.
Do you have any plans to attend any water parks this summer?
If you are in the area I encourage you to take a trip to Geauga Lake’s Wildwater Kingdom…you won’t be disappointed!
