I LOVE doing arts and crafts…before I had children, I knew that I would be the mom that would like to get messy with my kids.
Then Pinterest came along…and for someone like me I LOVED looking at different crafts and projects people did with their children/family. So in keeping with what I said about my crafts I still do them but I don’t always post them because they aren’t Pinterest worthy! I don’t know about you but I am AMAZED at how well the projects are done on Pinterest, it puts my projects to shame.
Well this brings me to our Easter project…
I was watching TV one morning and saw the idea to decorate marshmallows instead of Easter Eggs. Last year we decorated eggs, and Emma (although a year younger) didn’t seem too interested, so when I saw the segment on decorating marshmallows I decided we would try this.
My niece loves doing arts and crafts so I explained to my sister what I was planning on doing with the girls (Emma and Solana-My Niece) and they were game. Thursday night before the holiday we sat around the kitchen table and I explained what I saw and we started the process of decorating marshmallows…
Items List…
Marshmallows
Sprinkles and Crystals
Jellybeans
Magic Shell (Chocolate)
Skewers
First you dip the marshmallows in water, then you dip it in whatever topping you want (Sprinkles, Crystals, Jellybeans…etc).
I was very surprised…Emma LOVED decorating the marshmallows!!! There was actually a HUGE meltdown once we finished!
Below is our finished project…
They are BEAUTIFUL…well in my eyes, because my daughter and niece made them!
Now you are probably wondering about my title and why I say that these aren’t Pinterest worthy…
Well your average Pinterest post is staged and it looks perfect. No crumbs or anything extra in the background like family members, crumbs, and everything else. Well not in this post…I shared personal photos because the girls had a blast decorating! We even got my husband Darrick in on the fun…he made the large chocolate marshmallow skewer (it looks gross but he said it was delicious)! My sister happened to be sitting next to Emma so I caught her in a lot of my pictures of Emma. They had a great time together decorating!
I think we will add decorating marshmallows to our Easter traditions instead of coloring eggs. It was so much fun!!! And it was fun just being around the kids and doing something different!
Did you do any crafts for the Easter Holiday? Color Eggs?
