Yesterday, was Emma’s first day of school…
One of the most beneficial things we learned from Emma’s Speech Therapist was information about the Preschool Program that our district offers. They offer half-day preschool and during preschool they are able to get Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech, which are all things Emma can benefit from.
I have mention several times that Emma has some speech delays, and most recently I learned that she has a few other developmental delays, so with school and working with her teachers and therapist we have a common goal of getting Emma to the level of those in her age category. She pretty much does things at a delayed pace compared to her peers.
For example…she is talking, but compared to other 3 year olds, its still not as clear as it could be. But she works hard on it, so hopefully we will see some changes soon.
Also with physical therapy we were told that Emma has low muscle tone…so with therapy this will help her build her strength. An example of whats going on with her physically, she plays and walks…but when it comes to jumping, running, hopping or going up stairs she does it but not properly.
I was a little nervous VERY NERVOUS for her. She is never really away from any family at any time, so this was big for her us!
When we arrived at the school Emma was all SMILES…
She went in with no problem…
I on the other hand, well I didn’t do bad! I cried when we got down the street, I shed a few (thug…Mom) tears as my bestfriend says!
She did so well yesterday…I was on edge until we picked her up!
But when I saw her face I was reassured that everything was okay…
She was so excited to see Daddy jump out the car!!!
So, what tips do you have for me since I’m a Preschool mom??
