Today is March 24…this day will always have a special place in my heart.
On this day three years ago, my baby girl Emma was discharged from the hospital after spending a total of 50 days in the NICU after she was born!
This time seems so far away but yet so close, it feels like it happened yesterday! I was in the hospital for 4 days due to having a cesarean, then Darrick and I “boarded” in the hospital for about a week (boarding means to stay in dorm rooms set up in the hospital for families of patients)…then we slept at home but spent our days at the hospital in the NICU Unit. The NICU Nurses became our family!
We would wake up and get to the hospital between 8-9 in the morning, Darrick would stay until he went to work then I would stay and my mom would come in as Darrick was leaving, to visit and keep me company. Usually around 4pm my father would come in after he got off work. I would leave for a few hours, sometimes I would come back with my sister, and somedays I would stay all day if we were going to have visitors (Emma could only have visitors if a parent was present). Once Darrick got off work we would go back to give her a bath with the NICU nurses and say good night. By this time it was around Midnight or a little after…we would go home and sleep and do it all over the next day…this was our schedule until she came home!
And look at her now…a little school girl! I am so proud of my big girl! And so VERY thankful for all the strides she has made!
Thank You Jesus!!!
Emma is the strongest little girl I know! She has overcome many obstacles!
We are preparing now for her to have another surgery in April. But I have no doubt that she will be okay…God has had her back this far so I know He will continue to watch over her!
