Since my last post I have been having a bit of writer’s block! I had a list of things I wanted to write about but when I sat in front of the computer I would draw a blank.
When I started blogging years ago, I would do it as a hobby…I tried journaling but I soon realized that I would do it consistently for a couple of days then I wouldn’t return until a few weeks later. When I interned for SKORCH I decided after my internship was over that I would create my own fashion world with a blog…as life went on the blog changed and turned into what it is now! Its my own little business! I earn extra funds from my “hobby”…so with that comes extra responsibilities, requirements, and goals!
I started off this year with one of my goals for the blog being to write daily, or post daily. But last week I went into a writers block/rut! I didn’t feel I had anything of quality to post or talk about. I poured my heart into my last post about my miscarriage and I think it drained me…I had NOTHING for the rest of the week!
Darrick saw me moping around and he gave me the pep talk of all pep talks (we were sitting on the side of the bed but I felt like I was in a football huddle) he got me all the way together…
Points From the Huddle (I mean Pep Talk)…
He reminded me of why I am blogging, and what I have accomplished!
He told me to get myself on a schedule so I can have more control over when I am writing, instead of trying to get a post in when I can
He reminded me to have fun…he told me that I have had great opportunities from blogging and although you are earning money if you treat it as a job then you will no longer have fun with it…have fun so it doesn’t feel like work!
Take a Break!!
We finished our talk by creating a “game plan” of how to tackle blogging for the next week.
This week’s game plan…
Get Up when my Alarm goes off and get work done, step away from the computer for blogging after Emma goes to sleep. This way I can focus when I need to and my other time can be spent on Emma and things I need to get done! Once I am on that schedule I can add other things, but I need to get this down 100%!
What do you do when you have Writers Block?
How often do you take a break in Blogging?
Who do you talk to when you need a pep talk?
