The first week in April I along with my Mom, Dad, Sister, and Emma went to Huntsville, AL (I hate that Darrick and my brother in law didnt get a chance to go because they have not met this part of the family). This is where the majority of my family lives, well all of them really. We went for a funeral but we ended up seeing A LOT of the family. My cousin Adrienne’s father passed away, so we went for the funeral. At her fathers funeral a few people got up and spoke and talked about how much her father Winston loved family, and what better way to celebrate his Homegoing than with all the family gathered together…
It has been a few years since my sister and I have been to Alabama, and YEARS since we have really seen the extended family, I mean I think we were little girls the last time we saw some of our family members! But when I say we all got together it was like we saw each other everyday (we didnt miss a beat)…we took so many pics!!
When I say just looking at this picture brings tears to my eyes…it really does!! Family means so much to me and this is just AWESOME for all of us to be together, I just wish we could do this for a reunion and not for a funeral! I was so happy that Emma got to meet her family, even though she probably wont remember them but it was still a blessing! They all fell in love with her, it was one point at church that she had been passed around so much I had to stand in one place to find her, she was with cousin Barbara. Barbara was taking pictures, cleaning up, all while holding Emma …they sure dont make them like that anymore (Emma is almost 21lbs) if I’m cleaning she is sitting down! HA!
Saturday Evening…my Cousin Damian and his wife Tammie set it out for us. They had all the cousins come over to their home and we had appetizers!! Tammie did an excellent job, I still want some more of those twice baked red skin potatoes!!! And I had a margarita cooler…I need to find those up north here!
It was late when we took this picture…
After Church on Sunday, we also got a chance to stop by my moms side of the family
This wasnt all of them…just the few that we got a chance to see!!
My cousin Henry…the tall one from the pic above drives a Corvette! And since I had never rode in one he took me on a quick ride…yes, he went really fast and I was screaming as if I was on a roller coaster! Now this is one of Darrick’s dream cars, but until I get my courage up to ride in it again I may just have to follow him whenever he gets one! LOL!!!
The funeral was Friday but we had another celebration of family on Sunday afternoon! Everyone came over my Uncle Harold’s house and we had a great time!
This weekend was amazing! I really hate that Darrick had to work and couldnt come too! And I really hate that we dont live closer…nothing like being in the south! The weather was beautiful…and if nothing else you can find all the PEACH SODA (not peach pop) that you want!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Peach Pop!!!
Its so much more that I could say about this weekend…but I will just end it with
I LOVE Y’ALL!!!!
