So this past weekend, Darrick and I kicked off the celebration of my birthday! My birthday is actually tomorrow April 16!!! Ever since Darrick and I started dating he has always made sure my birthday is special! He takes time in planning everything!!! He’s the Best!!!
This year was no different…he wouldn’t tell me where we were going! We dropped Emma off at her grandparents and he wouldn’t even tell them…HA! So of course I was instructed to call once we got there because they were excited and anxious too!

He surprised me with Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar! Now I went to Paladar with a friend when it first opened…years ago! But I always told him that I wanted us to go back! And this is where he took me! And yes, we both loved it and it will be in our rotation of restaurants!
HA! Can you see us in the window!
We started by having a couple of Mojito’s! Darrick had a regular one, and I had a Mango Cilantro Mojito…YUM YUM!!!
Now dont judge my meal pictures…the food looked so good when it came out we DUG in before I could take pictures…we were half way done before I realized I needed pictures!!!
Darrick had the GRILLED SKIRT STEAK CHURRASCO Marinated skirt steak with our fresh housemade chimichurri sauce, served over sofrito rice and pinto beans.
SPICY CHORIZO QUESO FUNDIDO
Rich Latin cheese dip with spicy chorizo, red & yellow peppers, and fresh oregano. Served with tortilla chips for dipping.
SHORT RIB EMPANADAS
A trio of flaky turnovers stuffed with tender short rib braised with peppers and spices, baked and topped with pico de gallo and our key lime sour cream.
The food was EXCELLENT!!! Now we have everyone wanting to go that we told about the restaurant! So glad that Darrick loves to try new things because he fell in love with this place! Its been a long time since Darrick and I have been to a restuarant and totally killed the food! No to-go containers here…LOL!!!
After dinner we went home…
Darrick made my FAVORITE Ice Cream…he made me Homemade Vanilla and Pineapple IceCream. His version of my favorite Blue Bell Ice Cream (Blue Bell isnt sold in Ohio).
On Sunday we had dinner at my parents house…Good Southern Dinner of Collard Greens, Baked Chicken, Fried Okra, and Macaroni…one would think my mom is from the South! HA! Nope she’s from Cleveland…LOL!! But all her family is from the South…so that’s where she learned to “throw-down”!!!
And my Godbott side surprised me with a with Cake and a singing birthday card HA!!!
I must say….the birthday celebrations are off to a GREAT start!!! I plan to party all week!!! LOL!!!
