“All women are at risk for breast cancer, and as you get older, your risk increases. Researchers estimate that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer at some time in their lives. This means that the average woman has about a 12-13% risk of developing breast cancer. That might sound scary, but you can look at it another way: a 12-13% risk means there’s an 87-88% chance that you WON’T develop breast cancer.” (source)
With stats like these it is VERY important to do Monthly Breast Exams! I must admit I am pretty bad about doing this! But we as women should be doing Breast Self Exam monthly!!! This is one of the first steps in catching Breast Cancer early! Examine yourself several days after your period ends, when your breasts are least likely to be swollen and tender. If you are no longer having periods, choose a day that’s easy to remember, such as the first or last day of the month.
