How do you feel about Hand Me Downs?
Since Emma was born we have gotten quite a bit of clothes from other people. Usually when we get it, Darrick goes through it first and keeps the stuff that is in good condition. Then I go through it after him to double check him…(LOL)! And we are very grateful for the things we get, however, I still go out and purchase items on my own for things that I want Emma to have, or just things I like in general!
I guess you can look at “hand me downs” like “thrifting” for your child???
Do you only do hand me downs between your children??

I so love Michelle Obama for doing this with her daughters! This picture reminds me of my sister and I, there are so many pictures of my sister having on an outfit and a couple of years later, I have on the same outfit! But the reason I love Michelle Obama for this is because celebrities dont usually do this with their children, everything is new, and very expensive…and even though I know she has the money to buy her children PLENTY of clothes she probably went in the closet and said “you can fit this now” so wear this!
I will admit at first I wasn’t really a fan of “hand me downs”, mainly because the person who I had my first experience with outside of family had a few comments as if I needed this stuff and couldn’t purchase clothes for myself or Emma on my own. NEGATIVE! If you are going to insult me while you are giving me something, I would rather you keep it.
However, I have had a few members at my church give Emma clothes from their little girls that are practically BRAND NEW and in style (not like they had them sitting around for years)…how could you pass up on new clothes! Most of the clothes have only been worn a few times or maybe only once! I don’t know anyone with a little girl younger than Emma, so I just donated her clothes so they could be a blessing to someone…but like the clothes that were give to us they were only worn once! And if they have stains on them I usually just throw them away. I wouldn’t want to give anyone anything with stains! Personally I have become a fan of GOOD quality “hand me downs”!!!
