Last weekend my mom, sister and I took a trip Baltimore, Maryland. My sister had a conference to attend for the non-profit organization she works with and we came along so she didn’t have to ride by herself. Usually before taking a trip I research the city to see what places I want to visit while there, however, this time I didn’t do that. I found a Visit Baltimore Magazine in the hotel and created a list on our first night. While reading the individual descriptions I found Charm City Cakes, it sound interesting so I did a little more research and realized that it was Duff Goldman’s studio.

How did I forget that this was located in Baltimore, MD?!?!? I used to be a HUGE fan of the show Ace of Cakes when it was on Food Network!
Once I put this all together, I knew it was our FIRST stop on our mini-tour of Baltimore the next day. I created a list of places for us to visit and my mom and I were total tourist while my sister was in her conference.
We arrived a little early, so in true blogger form; what do you do? You have a photoshoot in front of the doors…
When the doors opened, we were AMAZED!!! We were in the kitchen of the place and part of the room was blocked off by the displays of cakes and the other side was were they actual prepare the cakes. You were allowed to take pictures of the display cakes but not the kitchen.

The cake below was one of my favorites, there was so much detail! My niece would LOVE this cake!
The shades of purple from the Baltimore Ravens cake were amazing. The picture doesn’t do it justice for how how the cake POPPED with color in person!
The elephant cake looked like a statue, it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! It looked like PURE gold!!
This cake was another one of my favorites. If I saw this design prior to getting married, I would’ve definitely wanted to recreate this with my wedding colors! It was so pretty in person!
Which cake do you love from the pictures?
This experience will be forever remembered! If you know me you know I love all kinds of desserts and I am ALWAYS amazed when people are decorating cakes. I watch the videos online and on social media of cake decorating, I’ve always wanted to take classes. Maybe this will motivate me to go ahead and finally enroll in a class!
In true tourist mode, I did ask was Duff coming in but she said he stays in California most of the time. I would’ve loved getting a picture with him if he was in town!
